i didin't realize my User Name would be seen. 1st step = "Click Menu button to open menu panel."
i couldn't find the "Menu button" which i was supposed to click, to begin changing the name everyone would see. ( i have ALWAYS loved Mozilla - the Firefox graphic - instead of corporate U.S.!) But, tonight has taken OVER AN HOUR to just fill everything out, so my supportive Review of a kind Dentist could be POSTED!!
PLEASE HELP. Honest to the Almighty - i couldn't sleep last night. Am now exhausted.

i gotta go to sleep now. this has been especially hard - cause of having to work last night. Am 79 - it was a VITAL volunteer effort. HOPEFULLY, there will be some way i can learn, at least 8 hours from now, HOW TO FIND the "Menu Button," so the Menu Panel can be opened. God Willing, the several next steps will go quickly. It was not clear that the words - Interfaith Peace Coalition - (created to finally successfully have a "passkey" - which took about 25 minutes : ( were going to be seen. That's why i've been trying to find the "Menu Button", to make another 'Pass Key' or password or WHAT EVER that last step was.
After i asked "Where is the Menu Button", an answer quickly appeared : "Found 3 results for 'where is the menu button' for 'Mozilla Account.' BUT NO RESULTS APPEARED. Clicking on the words "View All," that was bolded, in blue did not get any response. i've tried to send you the photos of this latest escapade - but aint gonna try anymore. (i wasn't successful in doing that.) sigh. i USED to LOVE the beautiful graphic of the firefox. Now - am very, very confounded.
Hello! I hope these several steps will indeed go by quickly.
I am not certain if you wish to change either your username or password, and will assume the latter for now as per your request in the body of your problem. Follow these steps to change your password: (NOTE: during any of these steps, you may be asked to sign-in to your account once more. Proceed when signed in and ready)
- Begin by clicking the menu button on the top right of the Firefox browser under the X, denoted by three horizontal lines stacked on top of each other (like a hamburger) with a space in the middle, looking similarly to this character: ☰
- A small panel will open under the button, revealing many options. Proceed by clicking on the topmost option, which is named with either your Account Display Name, or E-mail used for this Firefox account, then click "Manage Account".
- Under the "Security" section (you may scroll down if this is not visible), the first bar "Password" is listed, and you may change it with the button next to it, aptly labelled "Change".
If you are referring to your username, I am unsure if you mean the username we can see in the Forums, or Firefox Display Name, which may both be one and the same. To change your Firefox Display Name, follow the above steps, but instead of editing your Password, change your Display Name under the Profile section. Note you cannot change your Firefox username, as it is tied to your email, but nobody is allowed to see this anyway.
To change the username that "everyone can see" in the Forums (inter...), follow these steps:
- Visit https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/users/edit
- Click the field under the Username* section and change it to your preferred username. As stated under the field: "Keep in mind your username is visible to the public. This is a required field that must be unique, 150 characters or fewer. This value may contain only letters, numbers, and @/./+/-/_ characters."
- Once you are finished, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the blue "Update my Profile" button. When your username is saved, you will be redirected to your profile page.
It is possible some of these options were made impossible due to the presence of unknown extensions or set preferences. If you need any more help, or if there are issues with the above steps, let me know!
Your answer ALMOST got rid of my HORRIBLE fear that i'd given my password to the YELP company!!! IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS ONLY MOZILLA THAT ASKED ME FOR A PASSWORD ♡ Do you know if YELP has the right to ask us for our Password?! [i was VERY tired - it was after midnight. The whole process to become a member of YELP was confusing. But it was quickly necessary.]
i LOVE my Gmail password. [Will be 79 in February ~ this work against the war is HARD ~ yet it's a blessing that i just do NOT forget this sweet Password ~ Honoring my parents.
THANK YOU DEAR VOLUNTEER ♡
Oh Dear - i just clicked on "Post your Reply" above. BRIEFLY: Can YELP ask us for the Password, for our email? i hadn't slept ~ the night i was signing up for Yelp. (It was an emergency.) i remember i typed in my password once. Afterword, i thought it was in a reply to a YELP QUESTION.
But according to your response above - to my question of how to change our user name or password -
Am HOPING that it was Mozilla who asked for my password. Does YELP gave the right to ask us for our password? It will be very hard to change my password to Gmail. Am 78 ~ have no idea of another digital password i have. THANK YOU DEAR VOLUNTEER ♡☆
PLEASE HELP ME! i've TRIED TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION TWO TIMES ABOVE. (i MUST go to work - also VOLUNTEER - now.
HELP HELO HELP ~ PLEASE SEE THE SAME ANSWER- WRITTEN 3 SEPARATE BOXES ABOVE.
Hi,
Thanks for the kind words! My apologies for addressing this, but in order to create an account for the Yelp reviewing website (and with most websites that feature sign-in), you indeed need a username and password, the likes of which are changed in its respective website, and not your Mozilla Firefox account. If you believe that your Yelp username contains incriminating information, I can only suggest that you change it on the Yelp website itself, as this forum is mainly for support concerning Mozilla services.
In accordance with most laws around the world detailing the interaction between a consumer and digital company, Yelp will only use your password (that you enter in the Yelp website) for authentication (if you wish to login), and cannot use your password for any malicious purposes. However, if your username suggests a feature of your password, I strongly advise that you change it, regardless of which website you're using.
I hope this helps! Let me know if there's anything else I can help with in regards to Firefox.
Note that "Yelp" or any other company/actor generally do not ask for your password through E-mail or other communication method (as this can be a vector for others to steal your information), and if you have unintentionally entered your password in a reply to something, I suggest you delete it and change your password if needs be.
Thanks,
