I mistakenly selected a large number of archived emails, from multiple years, and moved them to the trash on my Thunderbird account. How can I select them all, or even better year by year, and move them back to archive folders? Thanks for the help.

Select then drag-and-drop, or right-click|Move To

I think you'll have to work with sets of messages rather than entire folders.
