Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1. Has been running without incident for a year or more. Simply quit connecting in middle of a session. Plus, when you shut it down, process never terminates although Firefox window closes, task manager shows process running and cannot re-open without killing process. Tried all solutions recommended. Didn't work. Uninstalled, downloaded installer and reinstalled, no change.

If you close firefox properly(with no windows open)and still it shown in memory then check out your Extensions , as they might be caused for the problem. by disabling or uninstalling it , the problem is solved. For help check this : http://mzl.la/10jVCAo Also check for Java plugins (Update or disable) by Mozilla Plugin check page, and disable it from plugins panel. One more cause might be of Internet Security software,as firewall stops it from closing properly. Read out this one : http://mzl.la/KEkJ6Z
