"Unverified session" when syncing browser data

Hello, I am trying to sync my browser data between two computers. On the computer I want the data from I click on "Sign in to Sync". This brings me through a couple menus asking me to sign in with google, and finally sends me to a space to set my password. I already have an account associated with my email and already have a password. I type in my same password again and a red bar with "Unverified Session" appears at the top. I am using the latest version of firefox on windows 11. I do not want to delete my account or make a new one. I have tried as many ways as I can think of to link my existing mozilla account to my browser but it simply will not let me. Another support ticket solved this by creating a new account but I find this solution unsatisfactory.

I would assume that they send a confirmation email to this email account.

You may need a fresh login to the accounts.firefox.com website to access the Settings page, so if necessary logout and login again.
