I recently installed thunderbird and used IMAP configurations on all my accounts (GMAIL, HOTMAIL, etcetera). I've noticed that my disk space began to decrease due to the fact that Thunderbird was syncing tens of thousands of email from the remote servers. I've stopped it by setting all accounts to sync only the last 30 days, but how do I remove the thousands of already synced email from the hard drive WITHOUT touching the ones on the server?

I tried to delete the folders under profiles, but it didn't seem to do the trick.

Thanks!

Did you turn on 'Synchronization' for all your folders? Basically that means Thunderbird is downloading an offline copy of every message. With 'Synchronization' turned off only the headers will be downloaded. The flip side with this is, you won't be able to backup your email archive. I'd simply install a larger disk.
