Hello,

That is not a Firefox survey site - do not interact with it. Are you sure you downloaded Firefox from the official site?

If you did not, uninstall Firefox, and delete the C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox, or C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder. Download a fresh copy of Firefox from one of the official links above and reinstall.

If you did install Firefox from the official links, can you check your extensions to see if you have anything suspicious? Either enter about:addons > Extensions, or

  • Tools (or New Fx Menu) > Add-ons > Extensions

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of. You should also check your list of installed programs in the Control Panel > Programs and Features, sometimes sorting by date can expose malware as they tend to come bundled with other software.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Another thing is to right click on your Firefox shortcut and select Properties. Check the target line under the Shortcut tab, some malware is known to add links or other things after the "firefox.exe" so that it loads up different pages on startup.

Some malware also change the configuration in Firefox - you may need to reset your Firefox to the default settings. The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences. Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Hello

I did everything that you said, I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it from the site that you advised me to use, I also downloaded malware bytes and removed 9 malicious malwares. I already have an antivirus program and also a maintenance program that I use.

After doing what you said, I still seem to have a problem with one of my websites being redirected to a survey site, and the computer seems to be going slower than it did before.

I know there are no viruses and no malware and no directory problems now. There's nothing else that I can do, but thank you for your help and advise.

Thank You

Richard Goss

Hello,

Do all sites redirect you to that survey site, or one particular site consistently redirects?

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
  • In previous Firefox versions, click on the Firefox button at the top left of the Firefox window and click on Help (or click on Help in the Menu bar, if you don't have a Firefox button) then click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Hi Its just one site, and I started in safe mode as you said, and now the site loads as normal and no survey site.

So It appears that the problem is something to do with one of the adons? Is it correct that I have to delete the adons one by one to see which one is behind the problem?

Thank you

Richard Goss

Yes that is correct. If you have a lot of extensions you can disable/remove all of the suspicious ones and see if that solves your problem first, and then start disabling one at a time from there. Let us know which extension(s) so that future users who experience this problem can find the solution more easily.

Thank you.
