Yes just click on the link an example of my result is attached (I am using fx15 on Ubuntu so it will not be exactly the same as your result). I suggest it is worth you trying with both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

If you do not get that sort of result something has gone seriously wrong e.g.

• an install failed
• Flash is disabled
• something is totally blocking the site or use of Flash

I'm torn between getting you guys a test result and moving on to: -Create a new profile -Remove ActiveX from my IE 9 settings (is this necessary if I will be using Firefox?) -Reinstalling Firefox all together (don't want to lose my bookmarks in the process though)

What is the best course? Please be explicit. You give me multiple sites to go to without telling me what to notice/report. This is getting too confusing.

This page has a few Flash objects that show the Flash version if Flash is working.

Did you visit that website and verified that Flash is working?

I believe I have the same problem, but one thing I have figured out is that the problem isn't that flash isn't loading, it's that it isn't always drawing visual elements properly. Likewise the tests on the Adobe site do not show up when using FireFox but do show up if using IETab 2. In the case of videos, the video is actually there and I can actually get it to play by clicking somewhere in the middle of the spot it should be. I get the sound but not the video or controls. I have managed to blindly click a fullscreen video button and actually got the fullscreen video working. Youtube has worked fine so far, and is using flash according to the right click menu. (And that's one way I figured out that Flash is actually loading, just not showing properly. The right-click menu does exist where the flash object should be. Likewise the AdBlock Plus block button appears.)

I tried downgrading to the 11.2 and 10.3 versions of Flash and it did not affect the problem at all, so I went back to 11.3. Running FireFox in Safe Mode the issue vanishes, but disabling all extensions/plug-ins except for Flash does not fix the problem.

Make sure to delete your cookies and then try the html5 youtube version.

If the problem disappears when using safe mode possibly the problem is related to hardware acceleration, you could try turning that off, in both the Flash Options, and in Firefox, you could also consider updating graphic drivers.

• upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
• troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems

I'm more than happy to uninstall Firefox 13 and re-install it or a previous version. The only thing I want ensure is that the bookmarks (favorites) I imported from my IE9 browser and have been adding to for some months to can be restored (imported) to the latest installation.

I have no idea whether the Flash problem will reoccur but thought this might work.

If you think I would do better creating a new profile instead, please say so and I'll try that first.

Otherwise I'll have to say buh-bye to using Firefox.

yessireebob, try disabling hardware acceleration in FireFox and in Flash as that seems to fix the issue for me and I believe we have the same issue. (In my case Flash hardware acceleration has been off for a long time, FireFox hardware acceleration was on and worked fine till the latest FireFox update.)

One of my video card drivers is up to date, the other one I'm not quite sure so I'll try updating from the manufacturer's site, even though the driver apparently has an auto-update system that has been running. (Trying to install drivers direct from the video card manufacturer just fails, so it seems to need drivers from the laptop's manufacturer.)

EdrickV, all due respect, I'd like to get a consensus from you and the other three who have been working with me on this. I'm just afraid that while y'all have the best intentions (and possibly the actual solution), we're liable to keep going on ad infinitum at cross-purposes.

If I don't get a consensus by tomorrow, I'll go with what I've got. I'll be sure to report the outcome in any event.

I had the same symptoms you described and I just followed John99's suggestion. And it worked. After updating my video card driver and turning hardware acceleration back on it still works, so that seems to be another possible fix, depending on what graphics hardware you have and what drivers you can use with it. (I can't say I like using beta drivers, but they are the only other drivers available for that video card from my laptop's manufacturer.)

What you want to try or not try is up to you.

BOOKMARKS & FAVOURITES (Favorites) Keeping bookmarks is not normally a problem when changing Flash or Firefox versions. It is however good practice to back them up. Some Firefox extensions will handle that and some backup utilities will also save the required files. I tend to routinely manually backup mine. The instructions are here:

• back up your bookmarks or move them to another computer
• you may also be interested in back up and restore information in Firefox profiles

You should not use any options from Windows or Firefox that offers to delete personal information.

Apologize for the delay in reporting but the issue was resolved. Followed EdrickV's suggestion to disable hdwr acceleration. Since then 14.0.1 was released and I installed it. Think I tested the new version by re-enabling hdwr accel., thinking that the new version might have been designed in part to address the Flash video problem. Seems that vids were playing OK initially but evidently the problem reoccurred and I'm now running w/out hdwr accel. Anybody else experiencing this still? When will I be able to re-enable h.a.?

Not too sure why hardware acceleration is a problem, it could relate to FlashPlayer 11.3 or it could be related to video drivers. I am not sure any solutions to Flash 11.3 issues have appeared yet.

After updating my video card drivers I was able to re-enable hardware acceleration with Firefox 13.0.1. Don't have Firefox 14 yet. (I am still using Flash 11.2, though for a short while I did use Flash 11.3 without issue.)

I haven't updated my video card drivers (unless they updated automatically). I checked my add-ons and realized I'm using Flash 11.3.300.265 w/ hdwr accel. disabled. To test the issue I re-enabled hdwr accel. (remember, I'm using Firefox 14 now) and went to a couple of video-based sites. Videos (current and older alike) played fine. Maybe Firefox 14 was the answer...

Same problem since 2 weeks. Today, I updated the drivers of the video card of my laptop, I restarted it and everything works perfect ! Thank you EdrickV !

Thought I should mention: tried unsuccessfully to open a video embedded in Facebook today. Think it linked to HBO's site. As I previously mentioned, hardware acceleration was re-enabled, and I'm running Flash 11.3 with Firefox 14.

Once again disabled h.a. and all was well again. Go figure, mateys...
