All I want to do is view the PDF just like I do in Safari. Whenever I click on PDF, it opens in Adobe Reader and the file has been downloaded. I do not want to have to go back and delete the PDFs that I do not want. I have a macbook MAC OS X 10.5.8

Hi gedaste,

You should try going to Firefox > Preferences > Applications" and changing the default behavior for a PDF file. You can find more information on managing how Firefox handles each file type in the Knowledge Base article Applications panel - Set how Firefox handles different types of files.

Hopefully this helps!

When I go to Applications, beside Adobe PDF document the action is Use Adobe Reader (default). When I go to preferences for Adobe Reader and choose internet, it just says open PDF in browser using Adobe Reader. It does not give me an option to view only PDF documents. How would I change the default to view only?

In Safari, I can just click on the document and view it without an automatic download. Whenever I use Firefox to look at PDFs, I have many documents that I really don't need cluttering up my computer. I don't need any additional plug-ins for Safari to be able to do this.

Do I need a plug-in for Firefox in order to be able to view only PDF documents?

If you have the Adobe extension for Firefox you should be able to set the action to open the PDF in Firefox. Take a look at View PDF files using Firefox’s built-in viewer for details.

I have Adobe. When I click on the PDF it asks what to do with it. I choose open with Adobe Reader Default. I do not pick SAVE. Doesn't matter, it opens the file so that I can view but at the same time it downloads it and then I have that PDF saved on my computer. Then I have to go to my downloads folder and delete multiple files that I only needed to read and not save. I think I will try Google Chrome.
