can't change Firefox profile in Mac OS Terminal, I get "no such file or directory"

more options

I have tried to change my profile in Mac OS Terminal but I get a response of "No such file or directory robert-bells-macbook-pro:~ rbell$ " I am following directions from Firefox "Starting the profile manager". No instance of Firefox is running, and I had restarted computer. I'm doing this because of display issues of a certain website using 7.0 and now 8.0. Website passes W3 test. The website works fine inFirefox 6.0.1 and other browsers.

Hello Thank you for your response. I was looking for a way to edit my profile in the way that was described for "profile manager." It does not look like anything can be edited here in this profile directory, and I don't recognize anything that looks like something that pertains to my problem. Not sure what to do next... profile manager would not start up from Terminal so I don't know how to affect any change. I think the goal was to create a new profile to see if it changed the behavior of the display problem that I see.

What kind on problems do you have?

Doesn't Firefox start with the current profile?

Hello

Firefox does have my profile at startup no problem. I can't seem to create another one to see if it debugs a display problem that I have with a particular website. The display problem I'm trying to solve started with Firefox 7 and now continues with Firefox 8. My approach is, I want to test with a fresh profile. However, Profile Manager will not launch through "Terminal." The message I get is

Last login: Wed Jul 27 17:20:52 on console robert-bells-macbook-pro:~ rbell$ /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -p dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022 Trace/BPT trap robert-bells-macbook-pro:~ rbell$

Is there another way to create a fresh profile for my test? Maybe I can "hide" the current one and check with a fresh one?

Thank you so much!

Try an uppercase -P (./firefox-bin -P)

It simply will not go... here's the error message that I get...

robert-bells-macbook-pro:~ rbell$ /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -P dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022 Trace/BPT trap

I then immediately get the system window pop-up that says

"The application firefox-bin quit unexpectedly."

I'm not sure what to think here, if multiple problems are connected or just coincidence.

If I "hide" the current profile folder will a fresh one be generated when I launch Firefox? Then if I get a better result on the display problem, I could copy bookmarks etc to the new profile folder?

Thanks again!
