I'm copying the message I received from the U. S. Bankruptcy Court:

ECF users are advised NOT TO UPGRADE to version 4.x or 5.x of the Firefox browser.

The Firefox browser versions 4.x and 5.x are not fully compatible with the court's ECF system. Several issues involving electronic filing have been reported. Furthermore, the "View Labels" button from the Creditor Mailing Matrix is not functional when using the upgrade. The recommended version of Firefox for use with ECF is 3.6.18, and the recommended version of Internet Explorer is either 7.x or 8.x.

If you have any questions, please contact the ECF Help Desk at 503-326-1510, 541-431-4005 or 866-777-0442.

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.

To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

3.6.17 is the latest release version, 3.6.18 is due out on June 21st.

I just successfully downloaded Firefox 3.6.19 and was able to use that to file documents with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Oregon. What a bother. I later updated Firefox back to 5.0. Next time I need to file bankruptcy docs, I'll reload the old Firefox (if it's still available).

Does anyone know if this is a problem only in Oregon? Why is the court unable to make its system compatible with 5.0. Or -- why is Firefox unable to make 5.0 work with the Court. Is Firefox even aware that this problem exists? What if it's an easy fix??

This is very bothersome.

thanks
