Hi There

Hotmail have this week updated their website, since then on Firefox I can't seem to open, delete, compose or do anything with my emails. All I can do is get into the inbox and that's it. I have been on Safari and seem to access all my emails as normal. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem??

Moderator Edit: This issue is caused by the current version of the Foxit Reader. Foxit is aware of the issue and are working on a fix. At this point, you must roll back to an older version of Foxit to fix the issue. See this related thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/926740#answer-330704

I have the same problem.

When using FireFox 3.6 the Next and Previous arrows are not there in the individual email screen. The arrows do appear with IE. I am using WinXP SP3. The arrows should be to the right of "Back to Messages" near the upper right corner.

Same problem here, the new hotmail layout is completely screwed in firefox.

Where do I find Firefox that will work with OS 10.3.9, Panther?

My hotmail keeps giving me script errors and just causes my firefox to lag.

Is it possible not to use that messenger service?

All of you might have a better chance to get help in Hotmail's own forum:

Yes since 28th July when Hotmail updated I cannot access messages or do anything using Firefox. Everthing works fine on Google Chrome and of course IE8. Google Chrome is much faster than IE8 and seemingly Firefox but my Norton Internet Protection does not seem to work with Google Chrome. Hopefully either Firefox or Hotmail will resolve the problem soon. I have been on the Windows live/ Hotmail forum suggested but the only reply so far has been someone telling me thay have thesame problem.

It's not your computer it is Hotmail. There are hundreds of people with the same problem as us. You can still access Hotmail properly using the apple browser Safari which you probably already have or you can download using Firefox by googling Safari or you can download Google Chrome which also works. For some reason the problem isn't happening to everyone and I suspect the problem might be that those affected are long standing customers of Hotmail and when Windows Live came in did not upgrade to Windows Live. Hopefully Hotmail will read everyone's comments and sort it out so we can access Hotmail from Firefox again. You can have more than one browser on your computer so in the meantime download and use a different browser(than Firefox) to access your hotmail account - all browsers work in much the same way.

If you want to see just how many people are affected by this Hotmail fiasco go onto the Hotmail/ Windows Live website or follow this link.

Hotmail nare apparently so embarrassed by the sheer volume of negative comments about their recent upgrade that they have locked the thread to stop any more comments being made. Ignore the first thread from Edward he is talking bollocks.

Same here. Hotmail opens but Reading Pane doesn't work.

It's fine in IE8 and Chrome.

i'd love to look at hotmail's own forum, but having just 'upgraded' from FF2 to FF3.6 (for 'up' read 'down') i can't even read what's been posted in the forum.

i came here because i can open a new mail to send to someone, but can not type the message - there's no way of getting the cursor to appear in the 'message' area.

i've had problems with every single versoin of FF3 with Hotmail, and that's why i've stuck with FF2, even thogh - extremely annoyingly - i can barely use Myspace because they are telling me what to do and 'upgrade' my browser all the time - i suspect this can only be because all the advertising they want to throw at me isn't supported by FF2 - bearing in mind Murdoch now has myspace that would be more than likely

how can this level of incompetence exist?

Interestingly I had the same problem (being able to create a new message but not being able write it)about 18 months ago when Google Chrome first launched their new browser. I gave up at the time having managed to complain to Hotmail/ Windows Live who did nothing about it. Now it seems impossible to even contact Hotmail as every attempt is redirected to a customer forum. Having made this point on the Hotmail customer forum I was excited to get a reply from WINDOWS LIVE (i.e hotmail) I was somewhat less excited to read their message which simply told me that it is indeed impossible to contact Hotmail nowadays as they believe it is more helpful (read less costly for helpful) to use other customers to solve problems.

The problem you have is not because you have upgraded to Firefox 3 but because the idiots at Hotmail have introduced a totally pointless and annoying upgraded version which for huge numbers of people simply will NOT work.

If you want to view the link on my previous message to discover just how many people Hotmail have pissed off I suggest you download Google Chrome by googling it using your Firefox browser. The format is very similar to Firefox and therefore is easy to use and much faster than Microsofts Internet Explorer browser. You will be able to access all the functions of your hotmail account on Google Chrome which is now much better than when it was first launched.

I personally wouldn't use Chrome for everything and am only using it for my hotmail account at the moment as I am unable to access hotmail properly on Firefox. There is no problem having 2 browsers on your computer and you can alternate between the two browsers as much as you like. Hope this is some help to you.

Thanks Rick

yes i should have said that i only finally gave in and upgraded because even FF2 wouldn't work with Hotmail anymore

i've actually downloaded Opera, in which Hotmail seems OK, so will it for that and FF for the rest

let's hope MS get their act together though

also i find FF3 doesn't work with some other sites also - things are never as good as they used to be it seems, even web browsers and webmail

I have managed to access my hotmail account using IE8 but not Firefox so looks like I will have to revert. It is very disappointing if Firefox cannot help becasue the hotmail support only gives useful info forIE8 users.
