Dear All,

First of all thank you for this platform.

I reinstalled new OS (Windows) in my computer. I wanted to access my Firefox account but it keep asking me to check Authentication app or the recovery code. I don't have access to them except my login information, which I verified before reinstalling new OS. Please help, how to gain access to my account with out loosing my data(Bookmarks, history etc).

I read an article (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1232779), which says that if someone still have the password he/she should try to access via web. I did it but have not received the CONFIRMATION EMAIL yet. Attaching two snapshots.

I will be highly obliged for your solutions. Thank you. Waiting for your responses. Minhaj :)

Did you previously used two factor authentication (2FA) for your Firefox Sync Account?

If you do not have recovery codes or otherwise aren't able to connect to the Firefox account then reset the Firefox Sync password to see if that gives access to the account and disable two factor authentication. You may have to try this more than once to be able to disable 2FA. Previous Firefox Account Recovery Codes expire when new ones are created.

If you change the password of the Sync account then all data stored on the Sync server will be reset and is lost. This is because this password is used to encrypt your personal data locally before it is uploaded and only this password can decrypt the data on the Sync server.

Note that Sync isn't meant to be used as a backup.
