Why doesn't Avira Browser Safety show up when I search add-ons in Add-ons Manager page?
If I search for it in google, it appears in the list of results and it shows a button 'Add to Firefox'.
However when I click the 'Add to Firefox' button, I get a message 'Firefox prevented this site from asking you to install software on your computer' with an Allow button. Why is this and is it safe to click the Allow button to install this extension?

hi Roberto2525, through the addons manager you can only find extensions that their developer chooses to host with mozilla / addons.mozilla.org, not addons they want to distribute themselves.
the warning message you are seeing is normal and will appear before every addon install. as addons in firefox are still free to do nearly everything what's possible you should only install addons whos authors you trust (extensions hosted at addons.mozilla.org are thoroughly vetted before they get published).
starting with firefox 41, firefox will require that also externally hosted addons need to be signed by mozilla after they have gone through some basic checks. so if you install the avira extension and it says something like "couldn't be verified for the use in firefox" then please get in contact with avira as well and ask them to get their addon signed: Add-on signing in Firefox

Addons in this case being Extensions only as Plugins, Themes, search engines, language packs do not need to be signed.
