I'm trying to put TB on a new computer. I can receive email on the new computer, but I can't send. It keeps asking me for a new password. I enter the password and tell it to remember it, but it just keeps asking for the new password. I'm practically certain that I'm entering the right PW.

What can I do to fix this.

This is essentially the same problem as https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1430726 . I am running 128.1.0esr, and the problem surfaced recently. I installed 128.0.1esr (replacing 115.13.0) on July 31. and the problem might have been re-introduced there. I have not researched the version numbers, so I do not know why I went from 115.13.0 to 118.0.1esr.

Here is the problem. I want to see all of the mails with a certain string in the sender field. After I have typed the first character in the filter field, Thunderbird goes into a "Not Responding" state, and I see a spinning blue circle. After I have entered the entire string, it takes a while before TB becomes responsive. When TB becomes responsive, I can delete all of the selected messages (in less than a second). But when I then remove or change the string, TB takes a lot of time before becoming responsive again. Wayne Mery posted at the end of that other archived thread "115.9.0 has a patch related to quick filters which may help." Has that patch somehow been regressed? Thanks.

I have just installed Thunderbird (Windows), and have converted Outlook .PST file to MBOX. I can see the folder-structure in Thunderbird from the .PST file, but Thunderbird say "no messengers" when accessing the result/any folder. I can read the rawdata in the MBOX files with Notebook, and the data is there. Why do not Thunderbird pick up the data? Any setup? I was using "ReliefJet Essentials for Outlook" when converting the .PST file

When I switch to online mode I get a dialog asking if I want to send the emails I chose to 'send later' now or later, but I cannot find a way to permanently prevent a certain email to be sent. How can I solve this?

I described this problem on this forum a couple of hours ago--but I now know any response to help me will come via email--which I cannot access due to the password problem. I was using Thunderbird mail when up pops this pop-up asking for my password. I have never had to use a password to access my emails with thunderbird email. I tried a Yahoo mail password, a mozilla account password, a thunderbird account password--none are wanted. I can't find where to change a password or add a new password.

How can I get some help not sent via email.

Hi,

I would like to integrate the user's address book (or more specifically the contact details of the current user) into my own (c++) desktop (Windows/MacOS/Linux) application for the user's convenience.

Is this possible at all? If so, where can I start reading to find out how to do this?

(If it's not possible through an API, is the address book file format documented somewhere, so I can read it directly?)

I don't need write access. I just need to be able to read the user's contacts.

Cheers, James

About a month ago I began the process of upgrading from W10 to W11. In the process, several problems happened. One of the problems was with Firefox. After reading and trying many suggestions from the Mozilla site, as well as several other sites, and having no success, I posted my problem on this Mozilla support site and hope that there was someone who could help. There was. After several days of exchanging messages (suggestions, instructions and results - mostly about Profile), Firefox returned.

The other major problem is Thunderbird. I have downloaded a current version (128.5.2esr). I have run it twice and, each time, email was downloaded. So that part seems to be working. What doesn’t appear are the settings I have used and message folders I have created over several years. I suspect that the problems are Profile related.

Starting from Help in the Thunderbird menu, then Troubleshooting Information, then Application Basics, I see Profile Folder. On that line is a button labeled Open Folder followed by (Local Drive). I click Open Folder and File Explorer opens to a folder named ab3xaztm.default-esr. It shows that the folder contains 59 items, including 10 subfolders. All files and folders show a December date.

Following the path C:\Users\rsuth\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\, in addition to ab3x…, there is another folder nlys3gkl.default that contains only 1 file, times.json.

Because of my earlier struggle – and eventual win – with the Firefox problem, I think that the Thunderbird problem might also be fixed in a similar way: Profile.

Slightly before the upgrading from W10 to W11, I made a copy of my Thunderbird folder. I think if I replace the currently active Thunderbird folder with the one I have saved, my Thunderbird problem may be over. However, I’m not certain that will happen and I’m not certain about the specific steps to take to make the replacement. (With my Firefox issue, there were a couple of small important steps I had to take to make it work, and those steps were explained to me by the person who helped me with my Firefox problem. So, after all these words, can someone point me in the direction to solve my Thunderbird problem?

Thanks for reading.

I've been using Thunderbird for years. I shutdown my computer (MacOS Sequoia) and went away for a few days, and now Thunderbird hangs when I try to use it. I have one main email account which I access with POP, and a couple of other accounts which I access with IMAP. I can access the downloaded messages in the Inbox of the POP account that I downloaded before going away, but I can't read any other folders (I have many folders since I've used Thunderbird for so long), or access the IMAP accounts. Thunderbird shows that I have new mail waiting on the POP server, but it hangs when I try to download them. It does not show mail waiting on the IMAP accounts, although I know new mail is there.

I have tried re-installing Thunderbird, and rebooted the computer, with no change. When Thunderbird hangs, it eats memory until the system runs out, and I have to use Force Quit to terminate it.

It's the first time I've had a problem with it!

In certain instances, I can no longer copy/cut from Cardbook notes. This happened in last few months. I just have time now to post the problem. I know since then Thunderbird had updates and so had windows. I am on Thunderbird 128.5.2esr and Windows 11 and firefox 133.0.3 I used to be able to select a word or many words and then right click. Then copy or paste would show up as option in a list. Now no list shows up. But control c and control v sometimes works. If I control c and control v within the note that works. I can copy from something like Word and control c and paste using control v and vice versa. But if try control c in notes and then control v in website that does not work. And that is what I use most.
