I had been using a previous version of Firefox for some time, everything was working good. Today, I decided to update Firefox to the latest 13.1b or something. Then, when I tried to play Youtube videos, a black screen would appear, the play time would skip from 00:00 to 00:02, then back to 00:00, then to 00:02 again, then back to 00:00, and then finally "an error occurred" or something. If the videos do finally play after my 100th attempt, it would be the slowest crap ever. Though, eventually an error will appear on the video.

I rolled back to my previous firefox, but the problem followed me even there. I uninstalled about x5 times, updated the flash player, ran a malware scan(clean) and closed my firewall. Javascript is open, all plugins updated etc. I just don't know! Even at one point, facebook was not sending messages at all. Saying the previous messages were not able to be fetched. What's the problem Mozilla?

Make sure that your security software isn't causing this problem.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

You mean anti-virus? I haven't had one in years. I'm perfectly fine without.

Is there any other security related software I may not know about?

To demonstrate and make it easier for analysis, I made a video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsNmFZWpOaU

There are a few fixes known for that error:

Did you try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode like I suggested above?

Did this have any effect?
Note that is a lot of cases there may still be components active in the background if you only disable firewall software.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:

You can also try to disable Flash as a test and use the HTML5 media player.

Thank you for your helpful responses.

I begun in safe mode(With Windows too), disabled hardware acceleration, added the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 DNS server as 'guigs2' suggested. I uninstalled flash player, and used the HTML5 player feature. Unfortunately, it only solved the issue of blacking out upon beginning. It loaded and played, but still fairly slow as usual. And as always, no sound.

Also, about that graphic card update thing you gave me, why should that apply to me? If Firefox only began to bug up after i installed the latest version, then it shouldn't have anything to do with my graphics card. Rather, a fault on Mozzila's behalf.

I don't like using Chrome, Mozilla was always great for me since 2009, never changed. Why only problems now?
