The location bar doesn't pull up suggestions from my history OR bookmarks, even though I have it set to remember my history in the settings and to suggest from both of those, as well as am able to see these bookmarks and historied pages in their respective areas. I have also set all about:config settings with browser.urlbar to true and this behavior also exists when I run in safe mode... don't know what else to try...

Chosen solution

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

Did you check browser.urlbar.maxRichResults as well?

  • browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled = true
  • browser.urlbar.maxRichResults = 12 (default)

Ya, both those settings were already set as such. Any other ideas?

Thank you so much! I'm 99% sure I fixed it after running the "Places Maintenance" extension, it's only auto completing the current tabs I have open and my bookmarks but I'm guessing it will track my history correctly now. I'll be sure to try your other suggestions before asking again if it still doesn't work.

I've been trying to fix this for weeks, thanks again!
