Some Windows don't show/respond while others do

I have been using firefox 8.0.1 for a while. I have 4 Windows, 3 of which have multiple tab groups (and, of course, multiple tabs within each tab group). It's been running smoothly, until a few days ago.

Now, two of my windows are inaccessible and 2 work just fine. I can also start new windows just fine.

The two windows that are inaccessible just never appear. I can click on them in the task bar, I can switch to them using task manager or "alt-tab", but it's like they don't exist. Or that their x-y position is off-screen. I have no idea, but I can't access them.

One of the windows that doesn't respond is the one without multiple tab groups. It just has two tabs loaded. I've managed to force the "crash" screen when re-starting firefox and selected to only reload this one window. (I backed up sessionstore.js first.) Even then, this window won't display.

Since I have lots of tabs and tab groups in the other window that won't display, I would like to not lose that information. What are my options? For example, if there is a nice editor for sessionstore.js, I might be able to extract my tab groups, etc. Or maybe I could find out that the window is offscreen.

BTW, I have tried rebooting as well.

Thanks.

OK, I figured out how to fix the issue. The problem was indeed that the windows were off the screen. I couldn't find the portion of sessionstore.js that mentioned the window position, unfortunately. (sessionstore.js really could use an editor or something.) Right clicking on the item in the start menu didn't give the option to "move" or "maximize".

However, if you hover over the item in the start menu, it gives you a visual representation of the window. If you then right click on that image, you can "move" or "maximize". If I selected "maximize", I could see the window. If I selected "move" and then hit my arrow keys, I would see my cursor in the upper left of my display. If I then moved the mouse, it would move the firefox window into the displayed area.

What happens if you close the window, and then recover it via "Firefox" > "History" > "Recently Closed Windows"?

Oh and, by the way, it looks like you're using an outdated version of Firefox (8). It'd be a wise move to upgrade to the latest version.

I get the same behavior if I do "Recently Closed Windows". At your suggestion, I also tried upgrading to 9.0.1, and unfortunately I have the same behavior with that version as well.
