The Firefox checking system says that Shockwave Flash 10.1.82.76 (10.1.r82) is VULNERABLE and I should immediately update it. When updating I can find no higher version of Shockwave Flash that is compatible with my system. What should I do ?

The Firefox checking system says that the version of Shockwave Flash that I have installed, namely 10.1.82.76 (10.1.r82), presents a security VULNERABILITY and that I should immediately update it or disable it. On attempting to find an update I cannot locate a higher/more advanced version of Shockwave Flash that is compatible with my system. What should I do ?

The latest version for your system seems to be Flash 10.1 r102

1. Firstly, thanks for your assistance and suggestions. I did what you said and installed Shockwave Flash 10.1.102.64 (10.1.r102) [after properly uninstalling the version of Shockwave Flash that was previously there]. I then ran another Firefox Plug-In check. The results of that check are:-

Sorry to trouble you again, but what should I do now ?
2. Also the Plug-In checker says that my:-
"Java Embedding Plugin 0.9.7.5 is OUTDATED"
and that I should update it. On going to the Java update site it says that for Macintosh computers you should use the Mac's Software Update facility. I have this facility set for scheduled updating of all my system software once per week. Still, I ran my Mac's Software Update manually, but there is no update available for Java. Do you have any suggestions concerning this matter ?

Hmm once i had this too (can't remember Fx version i used) but since i don't need Flash - i just disabled it. If you don't need it too, it's a good solution. If you need it only for some youtube vids - try DownloadHelper - it can download a video without flash installed and then you have it on your PC and can watch with your favourite player.
Suggestion: upgrade your Firefox to the latest stable version (3.6 is really old) => www.getfirefox.com
Yes, you will still get that message if you do a check for plugins, but that Flash 10.1.102.64 version is the last version that runs on your PowerPC Mac, so you can't do anything about it (no further update is possible).
You will most likely get such an error for all plugins that can be checked.

1. Thanks for this suggestion - it's probably the one I'll follow (disabling Flash Player, that is).
2. I can't go any higher than Version 3.6 with Firefox because the higher versions all require an Intel-based CPU. My Macintosh is a PowerPC G4 based Mac.

2. If yes, should I adopt Pawiecki's suggestion and DISABLE Shockwave Flash 10.1.102.64 (10.1.r102)

Sorry to keep bothering you, but I installed Shockwave Flash 9.0 r289 and the Plug-In checker merely said it was out of date and suggested I update it . It did NOT say anything about sceurity vulnerabilities, etc.
Also, the Plug-In checker gave a "tick of approval" for all my other plug-ins, except for Java Embedding Plugin 0.9.7.5 which it said was also outdated.
Do I miss out on much by leaving these functioning, although outdated, plug-ins in Firefox ? At least, I assume, they aren't compromising the SECURITY of my computer when I'm using Firefox.
You have no other option than accepting that you use an insecure Flash version with known vulnerabilites because your PowerPC system doesn't support newer versions.
