MBP OSX 10.6.7 4GB/250GB 2.4MHz

"The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."

Error appears when trying to drag Firefox 4 to App folder

Oddly, on my Mac desktops, the install app says that "a newer version of what your trying to install is in your apps folder". No problems with installation and running FF 4.

On the MBP, it (correctly) says that an older version exists...but no installation and above error msg.

Answer to this is to use Finder to go to the Applications folder and then drag the old Firefox to the wastebasket. Then try installing the new firefox again and it should work.
