Saved search on thunderbird does not work nor save

When I create a 'saved search' in Thunderbird by using the File>New>Saved Search... menu the "folder" is created but is empty even if the search was valid. After restarting TB the saved search "folder" disappears.

More information: when I create a saved search and right-click it to go to properties the properties menu does not show the search and is generally broken.

Also, this is on windows 11

Unified View is a kind of saved search, so if the latter isn't working, try this:
