Hello at Firefox community help,

I am wanting to open a website program on our local Australian SBS TV - SBS On- Demand but the site will not open due to the following displayed message -

Video Playback Error Sorry, we’ve encountered an error playing this video. If you have an ad blocker turned on, try turning it off or whitelisting our website before trying again. This may prevent you from loading videos. Australian Motocross Championship: Wonthaggi - Full replay Sport

The web site program link is - https://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/1876116035922/australian-motocross-championship-wonthaggi-full-replay

Can someone help with the sequence of steps to tell me how to locate the Firefox Ad blocker and edit the Ad blocker details to allow SBS On-Demand to play - https://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/

I am currently using a Win10 PC

Thanks Grant

Load the web page. After the page is loaded, click the AdBlock icon. Now select Disable on <website>. After, reload the page.

Hello Fred, thanks for your reply but the details provided are not clear how I identify where the Ad Block icon is/looks like?

Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for messages about blocked content.

. . . . how I identify where the Ad Block icon is/looks like?

That depends on what blocker you are using.

uBlock looks like a red shield. Adblock Plus looks like a stop sign.

Thanks Fred but where is this icon located? I need basic user information here as it is not intuitive unfortunately.

It would be on the toolbar along with the address box. It could also be in the overflow of the toolbar.
