I hate the new update 04 June 2021
The tabs at the top of the page look like they're on steriods, and I can't make the tabs smaller. What are you doing to your web browser? I hate what your have done in this update.

Hi,
We bring a modernized and differentiated look to tabs since Firefox 89 in order to create a signature Firefox look and experience. This major redesign will help us enable more use cases and features in the future.
Why do missing lines make the appearance "modernized"? I need definition between tabs and of the address bar so I don't click on the wrong thing. Not everyone has fantastic eyesight. I've looked at the various "themes". None of them work as well as the old appearance. Please FIX IT!

You stepped f side this time... please... don't change what's good! Change what you're bad about... (Which was almost nothing before this change! The last ,, download dart" move to nothing was bad too... but not as bad as this!
Please bring back the "compact" mode. The current UI wastes too much vertical space :(

You can use code in userChrome.css to override changes coming in Firefox 89+ with the new Proton design.
Thank you @cor-el! I just updated to v92 and I lose half my screen with all the extra space the tabs take up (I have a multiline tab extension installed)
Re-enabling compact mode and switching to that as per your advice gets things back to what they were before this update.
Now if only there was a way to make the bookmark toolbar menus smaller as well, I have to scroll now because there's so much space between each item whereas before they would all fit on the one menu at the same time without scrolling!
I wish Mozilla would stop messing with the appearance of the browser. Every time I update it something is worse. Yet features people actually want like multiline tabs and being able to change the style of tabs? Oh no Mozilla wouldn't want to implement a feature someone might actually find useful. They've definitely lost their way, Firefox used to be good and loved by power users and developers, but now all those users who helped popularise Firefox have been alienated, and every update makes me question why I'm still using Firefox and haven't just jumped ship to Chrome instead. Mozilla, you need to pull your finger out, get back to your roots, and listen to what your users are asking for. Otherwise pretty soon we're only going to end up with one rendering engine left.
In Firefox 93, to be released in a few weeks, compact mode will also affect the menu spacing, so you just need to wait for that release.
