I'm getting the XML Parsing Error message on Firefox after the latest update. I have tried every fix I can find in the help guide and the community section but none of them have worked. So far I have:

- completely uninstalled Firefox and everything related
- emptied cache of Chrome (which is what I am using to re-download Firefox)
- deleted everything in Windows Temp folder
- re-downloaded a brand new download of Firefox directly from the site
- run a full clean re-install of Firefox (same error message)
- restarted the computer (still getting XML Parsing error)
- unable to start Firefox in safe-mode as I don't have the button on the browser to do so.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as Firefox is my favourite browser and I want it back!

Thanks for your solution Cor-el.

Unfortunately that hadn't worked either, but last night in one last-ditch attempt before giving up until the next update, I deleted the installer, re downloaded it and ran it without uninstalling my current version of Firefox. It prompted me to run the 'Reset Firefox' solution so I tried that (which I thought I had tried previously, but perhaps not after having cleared caches and things) and that worked.

So Firefox is up and running again.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have.

Can you attach a screenshot?

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
