Hi there,

profiles are great. In my situation we are multiple users share one computer with multiple profiles, each for one person.

I wonder how one can make the different profiles visible especially in Windows Task Bar. We usually see multiple instances of "Inbox" there. It makes sense to show they are different!

In previous versions the addon "Profile Switcher" was able to modify the window title.

Maybe a profile Icon/Iconcolour or a prefix letter to prefix the folder/window title of Firefox.

Is there a posibility? How do other deal with this.

Kind regards ak

Separate Windows user accounts, one for each user.

Thanks, this is a option I considered, but I think it is rather complicated as you might want to share a lot of other things in one account.

Why not a central storage location accessible to all accounts?

Yes, I use this for files and everything. But on a shared computer I would be great to have the option to have a visual difference between multiple thunderbird instances/profiles.

You could create shortcuts to each profile using the -profile "path" command line, and give each shortcut a distinct name and icon.

Thanks for your replies.

I tried this, maybe I made a mistake. When I change the icon of the shortcut, it is not changing the icon of the application it opens. Also the name of the shortcut is not taken to the windows taskbar. Instead the name of the opened folder is shown there.

I tried using a cmd file, but it is not wrapping around the application, it is just calling it and closes.

Maybe somebody has another idea I could try?

Instead of shortcuts, consider launching Profile Manager with a shortcut to something like:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird Release\thunderbird.exe -p

and renaming each profile with the user's name. If TB is open but you wish to open another profile, that can be done from Help/Troubleshooting, about:profiles.

Hi, I already do so. I open each of our profiles with C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird Release\thunderbird.exe -p MyUserName already.

Unfortunately thunderbird is not showing the profile name in the windows task bar. It shows always the name of the CurrentFolder.
