What type of account are you using, IMAP or POP? Who is the email service provider of the affected account?

To help understand your current setup could you please answer each of the following queries.

Q: When you say 'Inbox', do you actually mean you have all your emails only in the 'Inbox' folder? So that you have all your emails only stored in one simple text file.

Q: Or do you mean you have subfolders in the 'Inbox' for different years like example below and one of those folders for 2019 is not displaying? pop mail account name > Inbox > > 2020 > > 2019 > > 2018 > > 2017

Q: When you say "I don't delete any mail", do you really mean you have never deleted an email ? Q: If you have never deleted any email ever, can we also assume you have never compacted the Inbox folder ?

Q: If you log on to your webmail account using a browser, are those missing emails still visible in the webmail account?

Q: Have you ever created a backup of your Thunderbird profile folder?

Q: Do you have any Anti-Virus product running on your computer that is allowed to scan Thunderbird folders and files on start up or when opening any Thunderbird files? What Anti-Virus are you using?
