Thunderbird freezes after about every third email I send (OS-X, 68.6.0 (64-bit))
Whenever I send email, there's about a 1 in 20 chance that Thunderbird will just freeze (permanent spinning ball on OS-X). The menu doesn't work, etc. Force Quit appears as an option if I right click on the icon for the app, which triggers the Apple Crash Reporter, but not the Mozilla Crash Reporter.
It seems to happen most often when I am replying to an email; it also happens when I am in safe mode (although maybe that reduces the frequency of freezes?).

I have an Apple crash report, but I can't seem to attach it to this issue.
Also, one more note. The spinning ball doesn't seem to appear until I close the message (hitting the small x on the tab) for the message I was replying to.
have an anti virus checking mail? Sounds like the sort of symptom they can cause.
I don't. All of my virus checking is cloud based, before the email reaches my email client.
What did you find to be causing the problem? Does the problem go away if you enable hardware acceleration at preferences > advanced > general?
I have not found the problem.
