STOP! Please do not run that file. It sounds like malware.

If you suddenly ended up on a page with a Firefox logo, orange background, and a download dialog, that's unfortunately a scam to get malware onto your computer.

It's difficult to tell whether the malware installer ran or not. I suggest using this cleaning program as the first step:

Thank you for sharing your Firefox browser data. On this list:

Extensions

  • MapsGalaxy 7.600.10.55012 (_39Members_@www.mapsgalaxy.com)
  • McAfee WebAdvisor 5.0.540.0 ({4ED1F68A-5463-4931-9384-8FFF5ED91D92})
  • SafeSearch Incognito 4.12 (@isdifvdkf)

The first and third items are generally considered unwanted add-ons. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions listed here are optional. If in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Hopefully that will help you keep or regain control of your new tab and search experience.
