Incoming mail works fine. Outgoing does not. I have tried all of the fixes at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages I attempted to attach two screen shots to show the account setup and the error message. The file attach failed 4 times. The error is "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to the Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. Try again" The outgoing server setting are: Description: Dawn Loos Server Name: smtp.gmail.com Port: 587 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password User Name: drllmklaw@gmail.com I have tried both ports: 485 & 587 for the outgoing server I tried creating a new account in Thunderbird for the same email address, which allowed me to change from POP to IMAP, but had no effect on the outgoing mail issue. I use Windows Firewall, and have added Thunderbird to it expressly. I use AVG Free, and tried sending with it turned off, to no effect. I have tried it with and without password.
