I am using a fresh install with no addons. Screenshot with available plugins attached.

Issue: Facebook or Messenger(.com) text box breaks after using the website for a while - sometimes immediately, sometimes in 10 minutes. I am unable to use Ctrl+A or paste links in any of my chats. Sometimes there is lag when typing. This happens only on Firefox. Chrome, Opera and IE seem fine.

Troubleshooting: Using Firefox in Safe mode gives the same result. While the issue is present there do not seem to be any issues with other websites currently open. Issue occurs regardless if only Facebook/Messenger is open or other websites as well. Issue occurs on several computers and only in Firefox.

I suspected JavaScript breaking for Facebook, but the symptoms I have do not make any sense to me to be honest. So any suggestions how to resolve this will be appreciated! I am a techie so give me your best :)

Key into the addressbar about:support & press enter. That is a quick method of opening the Troubleshooting information page. What is shown alongside Multiprocess Windows  ? If it starts with anything other than a zero you will be one of the 10% using multi process Firefox.

Just a hunch that could be involved.

If that is the case it will be fixable, but I do not know how or why that should occur, and it seems odd it should sometimes happen immediately and sometimes not.

It would not harm to test also in Windows own Safe Mode does that make a difference ? Facebook is obviously rather popular it will be interesting to see if similar reports are made. Have you noticed this issue reported on Facebook or elsewhere?

Oh, quite the elaborate reply! Thank you!

Multiprocess Windows is 0/1 (Disabled) Also e10s doesn't seem to be on as well. However I just got an update notification, so I'll update later today and see how things will go. Will also try Windows Safe mode if needed.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any recent posts about my issue anywhere else on the web. The only ones that appeared to be about similar issues were from 4-5 years ago, so not really applicable :)

Maybe you tried this already, but... does reloading the page fix it temporarily? FB makes very heavy use of scripting for everything and it's possible that if a script jams for some reason, it will stay jammed until you reload the page.

Yes, my assumption is some script breaks, but I'm still unable to even remotely locate the issue.

I usually need to close and reopen the tab to "fix" the issue. So my Firefox updated from v48 to v48.0.1 and the issue is still present . Multi-process is still off. Also using Firefox in Windows Safe mode changes nothing.

Any other ideas?

Facebook has extremely complex scripting, so even if you were to tell me some precise error messages from the Browser Console, I probably could not figure out the problem, but you could take a look:

I'm not very good with the Console tho. But I will keep an eye on the errors for some time and se how things will go.

On a side note, I installed adblock plus and now I'm rarely getting the issue. Which is again awkward because messenger.com shouldn't have any background scripts that are not vital for it to work.

Anyway, thank you all for the efforts! I have learned a lot from your replies.
