No "Sent" folder in Thunderbird Email

I'm new to Thunderbird. I don't understand why there isn't a standard "sent" folder, like in WLM. I guess that's why this is frustrating because I've used WLM for years, and the sent folder is automatically there. I've looked through other questions about the sent folder, and followed the directions, to no avail.

What am I doing wrong? I've gone to Tools>Account Settings>Copies and Folders>When sending messages automatically>Checked "Sent Folder on: (my email address)" and I don't see a sent folder anywhere. I have 2 email accounts set up, but I don't think that makes any difference does it?

Chosen solution

Are the accounts set up as IMAP or POP?

Have you actually send any mail (in pop they are created on demand) In IMAP the sometimes need to be subscribed. (right click the account and select subscribe) although for the English version of Hotmail there is a sent folder automatically subscribed)

Both accounts are set up as POP mail server. Maybe I hadn't sent enough emails for it to show up, because this morning the "sent" folder was there. Thanks for your help!
