I deleted a duplicate account, and it took my active account with it. Can I restore my inbox contents?
I accidentally created a duplicate Thunderbird account and began receiving everything in duplicate, so I deleted the new account. However, it "took" the contents of the original account with it. Now all I have is the emails that have arrived since then. I have lost the contents of my inbox along with all of the subfolders and their contents. My address books, however, are intact. I have a printout from several years ago of instructions for "recovering a profile that suddenly disappeared." Would this work with Thunderbird 38 and Windows 10, or is there a new set of instructions that I've not been able to locate? Thanks for any help.

I installed an import-export add-on and tried to import my inbox and contents (still on my computer in the profile) but - although I can find the inbox file with no extension when I browse windows explorer, it doesn't show up when I browse from inside the importer. So I tried to import the entire profile. The app told me it was valid and could be imported, but after a few minutes I got this message: "An error occurred during profile import. Error details are: "Exception... Component returned failure code: 0x8052000e (NS_ERROR_FILE_IS_LOCKED) [nslFile.copyTo]" nsresult: "0x8052000e (NS_ERROR_FILE_IS_LOCKED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://mboximport/content/profileImportWizard.js :: IETimportWizard.importProfileDelayed :: line 106" data: no] Any ideas? Thanks
OK - I figured out what I did wrong and got it to work. Quite amazing! Import-Export extension.
