I can't find "places.sqlite" in my old HD to import bmarks. The file is not hidden, I have checked view hidden files. I believe i am in the right directory, I'm in E:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\XXX.default. the folderslisted are cache2, jumplistcache, mozilla-media-cache, offlinecache, safebrowsing, startupcache, thumbnails. The fiiles listed are cache_clean, directorylinks.json, urlclassifier.pset, urlclassifier3.sqlite. I have performed a search *.sqlite and only index.sqlite and urlclassifier3.sqlite come up. I have tried every suggestion to locate this file, is it possible it got deleted or some other error occurred? I really need the bookmarks for work. I'm using windows 7. thanks.

hi, the contents of your profile should normally be in E:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\XXX.default Recover important data from an old profile

Note that Firefox uses two locations for the profile folder. On in AppData\Roaming for the main profile folder and another location in AppData\Local for the disk cache and some other data. You posted a link to that second location.
