I want to open Firefox in 32bit mode other threads say go to Applications - Get Info and then just tick box. I have version 37.0.2 on my Mac and there is no tick box. How do I check that it is open in 32 bit mode?

On a Mac, Firefox 4 versions and later are a 64 bit application (i386/x86_64 universal binary).

You can use these steps to start Firefox in 32 bit mode:

  1. Close Firefox
  2. Start the Finder and open the Applications folder
  3. Right click or control-click the Firefox.app icon
  4. Select "Get Info"
  5. Select or Deselect "Open in 32-bit mode"
  6. Close the "Firefox Info" window
  7. Restart Firefox

I don't seem to have the option to "Open in 32-bit mode". I have attached a screenshot.

That screenshot shows the Firefox installer (disk image; dmg file). You need to make sure that you first install Firefox properly and then check the Firefox application in its installation folder.

Open the Firefox disk image file and drag the Firefox program into the Applications folder on your hard drive. You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but instead drag it out of the DMG folder.
