I HAVE 2 THUNDERBIRD MAIL ACCOUNTS IN MY NAME AND ONE IN MY WIFE'S NAME AS SHE HAS IPAD NOW I WOULD LIKE TO STOP RECEIVING HER MAIL AND SO REMOVE THE ACCOUNT ON MY LAPTOP

does your wife need any of the emails stored on your computer? If she has an IMAP mail account, no worries as the emails will still be on the server. Otherwise backup her emails before removing the account.

To remove a mail account: Tools > Account Settings or right on mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'

Select the mail account you want to remove Click on 'Account Actions' select 'Remove account' Click on OK See image below as aid.
