In Mac OS X 10.9 using Firefox 32.0.3, had to deactivate Shockwave Flash Plug-in due to constant freezes. Is there a fix?

I have iMac running Mac OS X 10.9.5. After updating to Firefox 32, I started noticing hangs when visiting pages with Flash ads – or ad scripts in iframes or from ad networks. Usually, Firefox would freeze then an error message would pop up stating something like this:

script: chrome://browser/content/browser.js:16853

I tried restarting Firefox app, restarting computer, starting Firefox in Safe Mode, deleting Firefox preferences and repaired disk permissions to no avail.

I then looked in Max OS X's Activity Monitor to see what processes were hanging.

Every time Firefox froze the Firefox Shockwave Flash process was "not responding." Even after Force quitting process, Firefox app would still be frozen. I tried reinstalling Flash plug-in, Shockwave plug-in and Firefox app. Not until I disabled the Shockwave Flash plugin did Firefox stop freezing.

Is your problem with shockwave, or flash? They are two different programs.

I don't believe either Flash or Shockwave are the cause for the problem. Rather how Flash plugin for Firefox handles .swf files. NOTE: I don't have any issues with Safari app. The process that becomes non responsive is called "Firefox Plugin Process (Shockwave Flash)". Its parent process is Firefox app. Again, disabling the "Shockwave Flash 15.0.0.152" plugin under Tool/Add-ons/Plugins solved the issue. Of course, Flash is disabled in browser and I feel I'm using an iOS device!
