Thunderbird is continuing to download e-mail messages after I've (supposedly) closed the program. All of a sudden I'll see the icon appear for new e-mail even though Thunderbird is closed. This just started happening...has never worked like this in the past...Thunderbird had to be open to receive e-mail. I keep Thunderbird closed while away from my PC so that my e-mail is captured on my phone but if e-mail is downloading to my PC I can't receive it on my phone. How do I correct this?

Thank you.

Bob

open task manager and have a look in Tasks and ensure Thunderbird is actually not running. Anti virus programs sometime cause what is called a shutdown hang resulting in the user interface disappearing but the program not closing. Task manager will show what is happening.

Not to your original issue of mail on your phone. There is a better way.

Thank you for the suggestion. Hopefully that was the problem. Have been using Thunderbird for years and this was a first.
