Overlay not maximized windows?

more options

Opening a non-maximized window in FireFox does not open the new window aligned vertically and horizontally. In Internet Explorer it does open aligned vertically and horizontally. In FireFox closing the top X closes the wrong window. In Internet Explorer it closes the correct window. In Windows Explorer I can see each window using the icons on the Taskbar. If I open the top Window in FireFox it is necessary to use the Taskbar to see the other windows.

Sorry if the problem isn't clear. I'm using Windows 7, Internet Explorer 11, and FireFox 63.0.1 for what that is worth. Several revisions back FireFox worked the same way as Internet Explorer.

Are you talking it sits on top of the previous Browser? I know when I open either IE or FF they are opened in a cascade setup as you open more then go down and down.

Hi victorhart, Windows 7 usually has a different color for the title bar of the active window and the title bar of background/inactive windows. This is the easiest way to determine which close button is going to affect the active window.

If you want more difference in colors, you could try the new "Firefox Color" tool: https://color.firefox.com/

It's an add-on, so to turn it off, you would disable or remove Firefox Color from the "Extensions" panel of the Add-ons page.
