I recently had to do clean reinstall of Win 10, since then I can log into GMail via the Web but cannot gain entry via Thunderbird. I have checked and set all the imap settings, password, acct details and everything else I could see but still cannot gain entry to Gmail. This occurs on both my gmail accounts with an error message saying that "configuration could not be verified -- is the Username or Password wrong" but all is correct. I have 1 other email acct that is not GMail and it goes thru flawlessly. Any help appreciated. Ropar

"configuration could not be verified" for a gmail account basically means you have an anti virus product causing trouble. My last major headache was caused by Norton and I had to turn off sonar and email scanning before it would allow the account wizard to complete without spurious errors. It was hugely frustrating.

No luck Matt, even tried removing AVG but no help. I have 2 separate accounts with the exact same problem and now it seems my wife's machine is doing the same thing. I was going to check my setting against hers but she can't even help me now. I am going to try and get an older version of Thunderbird and see what happens as we are both using the latest 52.6.0 on Win10
