security error - may not load or link to imap:account
Background: I have spamassassin set up on my email server. Any email for any account that scores over 5 goes to an inbox called 'mailtrap'. Mailtrap account forwards the messages/headers to spamcop, where I report them as spam (or not).
Thunderbird is used to manage the mailtrap inbox (so I can move false spam from the SPAM folder to the HAM folder) and other inboxes via imap as well - so I can move spam that was not detected by spam assassin to the mailtrap, and/or move false spam back to the correct inbox. I believe, but am not certain, that this started occurring with the last thunderbird update.
When I view the error console I get lots of messages like this when the spamassasin rule executes:
Security Error: Content at moz-nullprincipal:{4d906652-23e0-4a1e-a633-7d7a9fb78876} may not load or link to imap://Beth@xxxxxxxx.net:993/fetch%3EUID%3E.INBOX%3E144691?header=filter&emitter=js&part=1.11.
The spam reporter rule/filter is: 1 set to junk status 2 forward message to spamcop 3 mark as read 4 move to spam on mailtrap@xxxx.net
The 2nd step is failing / generating those errors.
Has something changed in firefox with respect to security context or something? I'd love to blame my antivirus program, but I can send mail from any of the accounts individually. I would expect that if the message were moved by Spam Assassin to MAILTRAP (serverside / incoming message processing rule) that there should NOT be any conflicts - but hey, I'm just a lowly geek, not a thunderbird developer.
Help?
Thanks in advance - John

This is a bit of a guess after searching for similar error messages, but is there a network share involved in your setup and if so, would you be able to map a drive to it?
Also: - Try to see if changing "Keep messages for this account on this computer" in the Account Settings > Synchronization & Storage section has any effect - Check for proper use of periods (.INBOX), escapes and (no) spaces in path names - Check to see if the errors only occur for messages that have binary attachments.
I’m not aware of any recent security related changes but didn’t check for them either. But if you think this behavior changed/started after the last update, you could safely uninstall TB and reinstall the previous version without losing your TB setup or inboxes.
(Based on e.g. bugs 461785, 281841, 365526, 793118)
Local drive D. I'll try the 'keep messages local' thing - but seriously NOTHING On my computer has changed except for updating thunderbird when it asks.
EDIT: That setting is already enabled in storage and sync.

just a guess, but I would say the imap account for beth is not available for whatever email account you are using.
That is you do not have access to that imap mail account on the server in this instance of Thunderbird that you are trying to copy the email to.
without rhyme or reason, it's started working again. Go figure.

I have no idea. But thank you for posting back.
