Copy and Paste of Images NOT working.
When I right click on an image and choose 'copy image' and then try to paste it into my editing software, all i get is a string of text that is the location of the image as if I had chosen 'copy image location' instead. what gives?

Hi eros143, if you are having a problem with images pasting as URLs, the fix is in Firefox 13. If you can't wait for the official release, you can install the beta version.
If you are having any other kind of problem with copy and paste, please start a new question here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new

Hi dave1310, please note that the main discussion in this thread is about copying images from Firefox and pasting them into some applications (those applications insert a text url instead of the bitmap data). As far as I know, this only affects images and is not related to your permissions problem. Could you start a new question and list your add-ons? Perhaps there is a previously unidentified conflict affecting the clipboard. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new
I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me how to re-install Firefox v11.
I am rather disappointed that after installing Firefox v12, the copy and paste of images does not work any more (it was working fine prior to v12).
I use this "copy image" function to recreate an identical image (not the url of that image) on a notepad window so that I can have an edited page by eliminating all the commercials and unnecessary paragraphs of a document.
Keeping in mind that re-installing an older version is not "recommended" for security reasons, I have already done so myself and I'm glad I did. When Firefox 13 arrives, hopefully, in 5 weeks or so, I will then update again and hope that the copy & pasting of images will work properly, as a "fix" has been promised in an previous post.
In the meantime, if you wish to re-install Firefox 11, go to the following link: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-11.0&os=win&lang=en-US and you can download the Firefox 11 software to your desktop (a box will pop up automatically which says Firefox Set-up 11.0 exe; just click SAVE FILE) and then re-install it by simply following the instructions. I hope you are computer saavy enough to know how to FIND what you have downloaded, LOL!
I thought I might have a problem trying to install an older version over Firefox 12 but I did not. Now I am back to happily copying & pasting images once again. Good luck!
Thank you Addlepated. I have just completed re-installation of Firefox 11 and I am happy as I have got my good ol' copy-paste image working again.
I will not do any more updating of the Firefox until they fix this problem. I hope version 13 will be less disappointing!
Glad I could help! I have been helped many times by the suggestions of others in solving various perplexing problems so I try to do my part, when I can, to aid someone else. I only hope Firefox technicians are NOTING our posts and planning to DO something to correct this problem. Going back to an older version may not be ideal but I really NEED this copy & paste function for images. Hopefully it will be a temporary measure and Firefox 13 will not have this problem - or cause any new ones, LOL! Technicians - ARE YOU LISTENING?
Just to clarify - this is not a Microsoft or Windows issue. I have a mac book; safari works fine, firefox does not (after automatic updates the other day). I am trying to put images into word or powerpoint for mac, but it also does not paste into pages, which is an apple application. I can, as other commenters suggested, drag to another window. I can also save the file. I just can't use the buffer. waah.
This makes me very sad, as safari is a HOG and I hate running it. Please fix soon, firefox. I love your browser.
The copy/paste of images also is not working in Corel Draw or Corel Photopaint X5 with FF 12. Same as everyone else, right-click 'copy image' and then paste in program just pastes the images URL. Worked just fine prior to this last FF update.

Like Dave1310 said. I cannot get the copied URLs to link like they used to. I use this feature regularly and I need to know ow I can make it work again. The page where I use this feature the most doesn't have In-Page buttons for the links. I used to simply copy the URL onto the message box and it would hyperlink it. Now it simply copies the URL but it is not hyperlinked. It worked in the last version of FF I just upgraded from (7.01) but not now. How can I fix this.
I too use the c&p feature A LOT!!!....& really miss it!!!.....
As a work around, in FF 12, I've been right clicking on the web image, clicking on Copy Image, open Irfanview, Control V & the image will appear....then in Irfanview I click Edit, Copy, go to my document, right click & paste; then the image (instead of the link) will appear in my document.....
Awkward, but it does work....
I am also having this issue. I rely heavily on this at work. I cannot copy single graphs from Firefox 12 to Word 2010. It will only show a http link. Do we currently know if this is caused by an add-on conflict or just a bug? I did notice now that FF12 does not support Microsoft .NET framework assistant 1.2.1 and Adobe DLM as it is incompatible.
Hi koolzero, in Word 2010, use the "Paste Special" feature to work around this bug until Firefox 13 is released.
If you prefer the mouse, click the drop-down triangle below the large Paste button on the Home tab to access Paste Special. In the dialog showing available formats, choose the "Device Independent Bitmap" option.
If you prefer the keyboard, you can assign your choice of keys to this dialog. For example, to assign Ctrl+Alt+v to Paste Special, do this:
File > Options > Customize Ribbon
Below the first listbox is "Keyboard shortcuts: Customize" -- click that button
In the left box select Home tab, and in the right box select EditPasteSpecial. Then click into the box "Press new shortcut key" and press Ctrl+Alt+v to enter that combination. Click the Assign button, then Close. When you close your document, you may be prompted to save changes to the Normal template. To retain this setting, choose Yes.
Sounds like a lot of setup work, but I think you will find this handy long after this bug has blown over, for example, when you want to paste plain text.

FF 13 beta 3 appears to have fixed this problem, at least for the programs we are using. Hope the fix remains stable and ends up in FF 13 final.
I'm on the beta channel (presumably, that means I have the latest beta, right?), and the problem is not fixed for me. I just used Copy Image to paste into Windows Live Writer, and it pasted a hotlinked image.
I was pressed into firefox 12 i was using FF3.5 and i was very happy with that now i cannot cut and paste from my social forum
It's fixed in FF13 beta since 2012-05-04, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=749527

Since I have reinstalled version 11, the copy-paste of image works. But I'm constantly reminded by Firefox to upgrade to v12 (which I did and sadly I had to revert to v11 due to copy-paste problem in v12.)
Could someone tell us when will v13 be released? (I am not willing to go to beta version though.)
Thanks.
now i used to have a spellchecker on my forum when sending a reply just like the one on the bottom right hand side of the box how can i install that again i had it in FF3.6 now it has gone can you help
