Please Help Me Restore/Recover/Re-Open Windows and Tabs after a crash.

I use Firefox 9.01

After a crash, I restart, and get the usual Restore Session, and "Well, this is embarrassing" screen. BUT none of the windows or tabs that were open when FF crashed are listed — its blank . . . . and the Restore button is grayed out.

In my profiles folder I have the following sessionstore files in my "ya80al6u.default" folder in my "profiles" folder:

sessionstore22Dec2009.js (156 KB) sessionstore-01.js (20,544 KB) sessionstore-2.js (0 KB) sessionstore.bak (90,500 KB) sessionstore.js (90,500 KB) sessionstore_22_01_10.js (9,098 KB)

I try shutting down, and re-opening Firfox but this doesnt help.

I would greatly appreciate any help on this, thank you.

What are the file dates of the other sessionstore files?

The presence of sessionstore-##.js temp files with a number usually indicates that Firefox wasn't able the remove the main sessionstore.js file.

The previous session should be in sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak, the latter to make it possible to restore the previous session at any time during the current session.

You only get the "Well, this is embarrassing" screen if Firefox has crashed and restoring that crashed session caused another crash to happen. If all the tabs are empty then that sounds like a corrupted sessionstore file.

Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
