I had a hard drive fail and needed to do an entire new install. One of the very first things I do is install firefox and sync so I have all my sites tabs and passwords.

I did this and got the Secure connection failed errors instantly thereafter. no reboot nothing fixed it. Bing chrome opera all fail to work. refusing all secure connections. It will load microsoft but I cannot log in. It will load 1000 other sites as long as they are not the SSL pages. No other browser will load either.

This is instantly after signing in to sync.

I was left with no choice but to assume something got corrupted and wipe and redo windows AGAIN on this new drive.

This time I downloaded everything with bing and edge. Then when I was done after two days. I downloaded FF and tested it.

Worked great.

Signed into sync and BAM, all browsers and all websites refuse connections.

I have signed out of sync. I have deleted firefox. I have cleared SSL and DNS and every other setting I can think of or that chat gpt suggested. from cmd line. hard.

No remaining browsers will load. New firefox with no profile and no sync will load.

Whatever sync DID remains totally systemic and persistent and ONLY a total wipe of the drive fixed it last time.

Why will FF simply DO something like this and WTF did it do?

What security software do you have?

You can check the date and time and timezone in your computer's clock: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet, select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

Let me be clearer.

I have no anti virus at all installed yet because firefox will not load websites after sync.

I have no clock issues.

It was working fine on all browsers BEFORE Sync.

I have cleared all sites, all cache, reset all DNS and all proxy settings to none.

No effect. Problem persists.

This is the THIRD time.

I have already given up twice before in the last 7 days and wiped the drive to blank, reformatted, and reinstalled windows and then downloaded and ran alienware's command console to update all drivers.

It is NONE of those problems.

Something SYNC did altered the PC such that NO browser will open any pages that are secure.

I have previously read all these articles.

I have trouble shot with chat gpt.

I have exhausted every option I can search.

Problem persists.

Is there any way to get support besides this forum?

This is pathetic.

No help at all.

Nothing left to do but wipe AGAIN and then stop using firefox on ALL PCs even the working ones?

Ludicrous.

Be sure to verify ChatGPT suggestions as a hallucination could make things worse.

Does it still happen with a brand new Firefox account?

You may also wish to check the same settings on the other device you have connected to Firefox Sync?
