Hi I have a folder which I imported from IE years ago which has all my bookmarked sites which I save my most used bookmarks to on a regular basis. As Firefox was running very slow, I refreshed it making sure to uncheck bookmarks in the refresh exercise. When I've just opened Firefox this 'imported from IE' is no where to be found. I'm completely distraught that this is lost as I can't replace the whole number of bookmarks that I've saved. Please help!

Thank you

Hi Sumita, when you Refresh, all of your bookmark folders should come over to the new profile in the same locations, so it's very strange that one would go missing.

If you have a general problem with bookmarks, like you can't see any of them or save any new ones:

Please exit Firefox and do a normal shutdown and restart of Windows to release file locks (also completes pending updates and usually resolves any transient permission issues). If problems continue, we'll suggest ways to check for possible file corruption.

If bookmarks are working normally except for the missing folder:

The Refresh should have moved your old profile folder -- the folder that stores your key Firefox data and settings -- to your desktop inside an Old Firefox Data folder. Can you find that one?

Inside Old Firefox Data, inside the oddly named old profile folder, there should be a folder named bookmarkbackups. Can you find that one? If so, check the file names: one of them should have a very recent creation data coded into it. If there is NOT a fresh backup, then please do not proceed with a restore to avoid ending up in a worse place.

To restore one of those old backup files to your current Firefox, you can use the Library window's Restore menu. At the bottom, where it says "Choose file..." you'll point Firefox to that backup in Old Firefox Data. See this article for more info on Restore: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

Any luck?

Hi there...

Thanks so much for responding. I did manage to find the folder after a bit of searching. Somehow it had got buried in a sub-folder of a sub-folder. I'm just so, so relieved to have found it.

Best wishes Sumita
