I had to change the password for one of my gmail accounts, now I just get 'authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com'. I know the password entered is correct! My other gmail accounts for which I did not change the password continue to work fine. I cannot see any difference in the security setting between this account and the others.

Did you delete the old password in Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords? There would be an entry for imap://, smtp:// and oauth:// if the authentication was OAuth2. After removing the old passwords, restart TB and enter the password when prompted. OAuth2 authentication is recommended to avoid issues with two-step verification and 'less-secure apps' settings in Google.

Didn't work. I had omitted to change the oauth2 password, but even when I did that, and closed TB I was still unable to connect. It didn't prompt me for a new password by the way - perhaps because I had filled in the new one in stead of deleting the passwords?

Success! - did as I was told, and deleted rather than changed the entries. Thanks.

Same issue only after deleting passwords, close and restart TB same message; went back to passwords and they reappeared. No prompt when opening TB just the error. I would like to delete account and start over but I'm afraid of losing my folders and content.
