How do I send a single message to multiple addressees that appears to be addressed only to each recipient?
Wordstar invented Mailmerge: a method of writing a single letter with certain fields (e.g., name & address) different for different addressees. I want to do the same. I want to write a single message, address it to multiple addresses, have each message appear to be addressed only to the single addressee who gets it. If I use BCC it appears to be addressed to nobody, not what I want.

You can achieve this using Mail Merge addon extension. You create a Template and save in Templates folder. You can use a specific address book (not Mailing List) set up in Thunderbird with people who need to receive the emails or you can use a .csv file. Mail Merge addon:
Note: Different versions work on different versions of Thunderbird, info found at link above. Full instructions are also mentioned at the link.

Thanks! I searched for add-ons using 'mailmerge', not 'mail merge', which didn't work. That's probably a minor bug. 40 years ago Byte published an article about Wordstar 'secrets' by Ward Starr & Mel Murch.
