Sync does not work anymore
I use sync on my Dektop at work/home and on a laptop. It worked well for years but recently it stop working. I tried everything like reconnecting all acounts, even deleted the old one and started new but nothing helped. In about:sync-log I found that there are many sync errors but I cant read them. I put the newest error message in the pastebin: *Deleted because log contains personal info*

Does it say a last known sync time or date?

no, unfortunately not. It's been like this for a few weeks now so I guess the older ones are deleted already.
I just saw I gave you the oldest of the errors, not the newest. If it helps, here is the newest from a few minutes ago: -deleted

You mean under about:sync-log right? I don't see any stamp there anywhere. :-/
from your log file it appears that there's a broken/garbage entry in your bookmarks which is causing issues. could you try to open the bookmarks library (ctrl+shift+b) and search for "http:///??????" or "http:///" - in case that brings up any results please try to delete any such entries...

I found one such entry. But when I try to delete it or when I select "forget about this site" nothing happens. On desktop and on laptop.
Can I maybe edit in on explorer level somehow?
hm, they are stored within a database together with the browser history which isn't editable in a trivial way.
in the bookmark library, could you try to restore an automatic backup that was taken before the date you were starting to get problems with sync?
Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

I tried it on both Desktop and Laptop with different Backupstates and it always gives me an "Unable to process the backup file." error
Idea: I can export the bookmarks as html though. is it possible to delete everything, delete the /// bookmark in the html backup and import the html afterwards again? or will I loose all my bookmark bins etc like this?
Suggestion:
In Tools > Troubleshooting Information scroll down to Places Database and use the Verify Integrity button to repair the Places Database on both devices.
Then see if Sync works, or at least the sync-log stops generating an error log.

Indicative of a corrupt Places file, where bookmarks and browsing history are stored.
The edmiester is right, there is a line in the pastebin file that you shared that has an entry it flagged:
If the integrity check does not catch it -
- Go to History > Show all History
- In the search menu past http:///??????
- Delete the entry
- Try to sync one more time from the hamburger menu.
Please post back with any new log error files.

I already found that entry earlier and tried to delete it but I can't, nothing happens when I try to remove it or say "forget about this site" as I wrote earlier. :-/

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page cannot repair places.sqlite then remove all places.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
- keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_process_the_backup_file_-_Firefox
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox

I did what you said but I still get new sync errors in the log everytime.
I checked my bookmarks again and it seems like the one entry with ///???? is now gone, I can't find it anymore. Still no sync though. :(
Can you post a link to a new Sync error log?
You can open about:sync-log via the location bar to see if there are recent error logs available. You can upload a recent log if the log is too big to put in a reply.

Hello
I put hte newest log here: https://pastebin.mozilla.org/9088145
It looks like preferences were unchecked on one of the device preferences. Does toggling these preferences show a recent sync from the "Manage Account" menu?

Hello, I'm not sure if I understood correctly.
I'm at home right now, on this machine the "preferences" tab is checked at the sync setting. When I uncheck it I still get sync errors. Under "Manage Accounts-> Devices & Apps" I only see my home Firefox account and none of the others from the office/laptop.
Here is the newest sync-error: https://pastebin.mozilla.org/9089091 (Edit: new pastebin with 1 month span)

Apologies, it looks like the pastebin has expired, can you share it one more time?
