If I add another e-mail account, can I still use my old local folders?
I keep a lot of stuff in local folders. I want to add another e-mail account to Thunderbird and use it as my primary e-mail, but I will probably have to keep my first account. When I am using the new account, will all my old local folders still show in the Folders pane, and will I be able to add messages from the new account to those folders and reply to messages in the folders through the new account? Or are those local folders attached to the account I was using when I created them? I will have two IMAP accounts and they will have separate inboxes.

Yes, you will still see everything you currently see plus the new mail account.
To add another mail account: 'Menu icon' > 'New Message' > 'Existing mail account'
Enter name, email address and password - the one you use to access the webmail account. click on 'Continue' button
Thunderbird will try to locate configuration settings. You can also use the 'Manual config' button to edit any setting, so make sure it is IMAP and not pop. User name' usually is full email address.
click on 'Done' to create the account.
