Update to Thunderbird 38.6.0 killed all references to Calendar. No Lightening and not folded into Thunderbird. How do I get it back?

Previous Thunderbird update stalled Calendar, but it came back with all historical information intact. With 38.6.0 there is no mention of calendar in any of the tabs. How do I at least save old calendar information?

Go to Tools|Addons and look for Lightning there. Enable it, update it or reinstall it as necessary. If there is one there that won't let you enable it, remove it and get the latest one by typing Lightning into the little search box at the top of the add-ons window.

When I click Tools > Add-Ons, nothing happens. Previously I had a couple of add-ons related to calendar. What has happened?

I have the same problem. When Thunderbird auto updated to 38.6.0 my Lightning Calendar is GONE. If I go to Tools > Add-ons it says I don't have any!! Elsewhere there was a suggestion to go to Help > Troubleshooting Information > Click Show Folder > Delete content of "extensions" folder - but that folder is already empty. What to do next?? I'm panicking!!

Nothing happens? Or nothing shows?

If nothing happens, first start Thunderbird in safe mode https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird
