when i revert to ver 29 i get pull down menus for searching after download of automatic 33.3 I can't get the drop down menu. I've tried to block the update
when i use ver 29 i get past menu drop downs. when i get the automatic update to 33 or higher I can't get the pull down menu. I don't like to type in the search work every time I go to a web site. It should remember where I've been or at least let me keep ver 29 without automatic updating., I've tried to set the firewall not to update but it does it anyway. some firewall. Thanks if you can help this. I'll have to go to safe mode and revert to yesterday and download ver 29 again, I can do this everyday but that makes me not want to use firefox. I don't want to leave firefox. I like it. ! HELP?????

In Options - Advanced - Update select Never Check for Updates but please make note of the security risk warning; older browsers will not be updated with security patches.
If you want an older version that is updated try Firefox ESR (31.2) - https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/

I'm not 100% clear on the change that's happening. Is it:
- No menu bar at the top of the window? To show the menu bar, you can use any of these methods:
- right-click a blank area of the tab bar > Menu Bar
- right-click the "+" button on the tab bar > Menu Bar
- tap the Alt key to display the bar temporarily, then View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
- click the "3-bar" menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
- The recent sites triangle in the address bar isn't working?
- When you start typing in the address bar, earlier sites matching what you typed are not listed?
- Something else?
Thank you for responding. Let me start again. click on firefox and the "google" search engine opens up. This is the open bar in the center of the screen where the curser is blinking. With Version #29 all I have to do is click my left mouse button and it shows the last five or so places I've been to before. In Version 30.0 and above the left button doesn't do anything. When you start out with a new firefox you have to type in the search for the 2st time ex: hotmail, ebay etc. Once you type these in the left click of the mouse button shows these as a drop down and all you have to do is click the name ex hotmail. ??? Thanks bassman
in firefox 33 the search field on the homepage will now populate by search suggestions provided by the search engine once you start typing -this is why the dropdown with your entries from history is no longer there unfortunately...
Thankyou for understanding. I don't like to use the keyboard when I have a mouse in my hand and I don't have a keyboard sitting on my lap. clicking a mouse key and it's done is so much easier. Ok, that's my problem. Since I like version 29 the only way I can keep it from being updated is to keep my computer on. That is the only way? I just have to work around this. I can delete and download every time I have to reboot., I guess.??? Maybe sometime in the future firefox will see the advantage of one handed computing. haha. I like to sit on a couch and drink tea, not type so much. Have a nice day and thank you again. Bassman
Hmm, I don't use form/search history OR search suggestions, so this is just a wild guess: could you try disabling search suggestions and see whether you get the old form auto-suggest list back?
To disable search suggestions, you can use Firefox's search bar (the one with the "g" icon at the left end. Either:
- right-click the search bar and uncheck Show Suggestions
- click the "g" to drop-down the menu > Manage Search Engines, then uncheck the box for "Show search suggestions"

Thankyou, I used your special updated ver and have my drop down. I hope your automatic updater doesn't change it again. I wonder if there is a way to stop the auto updater. I have told the computer not to update without my say so, but it does it anyway. Bassman
If you installed the "ESR" version, then you will stay on the ESR track for at least the next 4 months and the updates will be limited mostly to security patches, without feature changes.
