Upgraded firefox per request, haven't been able to open it up ever since, crashes every time I go to open it, don't even seen the firfox screen, just the dialog box that it has crashed and to send an error report. Tried holding shift down while starting, didn't help, same result.

Thanks, but that's how I ended up here posting this message, I followed the directions further down in that page on the "get help fixing this crash" string, which then proceeds to post my problem here! I can't open the FF browser at all anymore.

Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Firefox? You can uninstall Firefox from your Control Panel (under Add & Remove Programs). When you uninstall, make sure that you DON'T choose the option "Remove my Firefox Personal Data" (so you don't lose your Bookmarks, etc.)

Did it, the result is when I click the icon to launch, absolutely nothing happens at all. I now don't even get the 'send error report' message.

When you launch Firefox and nothing happens, do you see Firefox running in your Task Manager (under the Applications tab)? Maybe, you can try clearing your virtual cache. You can do so as follows:

  • Go to \Options\Options\;
  • Go to Advanced (tab) and Network (tab);
  • Under Offline Storage click the "Clear Now" button.

Also, it could be that your security/virus software is conflicting with FF. Maybe, you can try logging in as Administrator and try launching FF.
